Dave Dorey is a Partner with Liff, Walsh & Simmons serving as Director of the Labor & Employment practice group, and member of the Litigation practice group. Dave has more than a dozen years of experience in complex labor and employment and litigation matters. He is a trusted counselor who has served in high-profile Senior Counsel and Chief of Staff positions in the federal government, including as Counsel to the Solicitor of the United States Department of Labor. He also has significant experience representing both employers and employees in labor and employment counseling and litigation. 

 

Beginning his career at a prestigious international law firm in Washington, D.C., Dave’s multi-faceted practice has spanned representations in federal and state trial and appellate courts, and before federal agenciesshowcasing his versatile approach to solving problems wherever they arise. Dave also has notable experience in federal class action litigation and administrative law. 

 

A distinguished alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Dave earned his Juris Doctor cum laude and was an editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder. 

 

Dave is a member of the bars of many federal courts including the United States Supreme Court, the District of Columbia and Fourth Circuits, and the District Courts for the District of Columbia and District of Maryland. He is a member of the bars of Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, and California. Dave resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Molly, and is an active member of the community.  He serves on the Board of Directors of Child Justice, Inc., a Maryland non-profit that helps abused children.
