Jon McGowan is a Partner at Liff, Walsh & Simmons and a member of the Business Law, Real Estate, Commercial Finance and Estates & Trusts practice groups. His business practice focuses on assisting clients in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and general corporate matters. He counsels individuals and families to help develop custom estate plans and business succession plans that address the client’s specific needs to help protect and impart their legacy. His real estate and finance practice touches areas of acquisition, development, leasing, and lending in the representation of buyers, sellers, and private and commercial lenders. Jon also serves as Counsel to the firm’s affiliated title company, Eagle Title.
Jon obtained his Bachelor of Science from the Helms School of Government at Liberty University, focusing on Western Legal Traditions. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he graduated in the top six percent of his class. While in law school, Jon was an honoree of the Royal Shannonhouse Honor Society and served as a member of the University of Baltimore Law Forum and the Real Estate Law Association.
Jon is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Anne Arundel County Bar Association, Crofton Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Anne Arundel, and Anne Arundel County Estate Planning Council. Jon was recognized in the 2023 edition of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America™ for his work in Trusts and Estates and What’s Up Annapolis Magazine’s 2024 Leading Lawyers. He is a member of the Leadership Anne Arundel 2023 Flagship Class.
Jon grew up in Crofton, Maryland, where he and his family currently reside.
